Nicholas Miller and Shane Logan are two sociology professors who know the power of collaboration. As founders of the Re-Emerging Scholars program, they understand what it takes to get large institutions to speak and work together to create meaningful change for vulnerable people.
Their work has lead to innovations and improvements in reducing recidivism through a partnership they guided between probation, corrections, and community college districts.
Their expertise, facilitation, and program design and evaluation have given over 10,000 students a new path toward freedom. Their students have gone from being incarcerated in prisons to graduating from UC Berkeley, Harvard and more and into careers that provide economic stability.
They are currently working on a joint project with public charter schools, community college districts, and funders to create a pipeline of enrollment for first-generation bound college students.
Other projects include equipping and connecting community college students to vital healthcare work, ensuring hospital systems can access trained students who can help them be on the front line to serve our neediest residents in their journey toward wellness.
